Honkaku Māpō Tōfu Kakan Kamakura Honten

The food was absolutely amazing, especially the mapo tofu. This can be a challenging restaurant to navigate for people who don’t speak or read Japanese, however the staff speak some English and were very kind and accommodating. I would come here again.

Never expected to get such authentic and spicy mapo tofu in Japan! Enjoyed the numbing spiciness. We couldn't read the Japanese menu so we relied on recommendations from the people at the shop. All 3 dishes recommended were really good and went very well with a warm bowl of rice.

Some of the best mapo tofu I ever had . The lunch set was perfect , fast, so tasty , just the right amount of spice and numbing wonderfulness. If I lived near here I might be here everyday . They also call you on your phone if you put your name in the register so you don’t have to wait on the street in the sun if it’s a hot day. Only negative was the AC was 4/10 and many customers were hot but it was ok and worth it.

Amazing chinese mapo tofu in Kamakura. Waited for around 40mins but the tofu set with dessert and all is really good. Reasonably priced.

Usually for weekends it's better to make a reservation. The Mapo Tofu from here is on another level. The flavor was amazing.

Hip original Chinese cuisine specializing Stir-fried beancurd in hot sauce (Mapo Tofu). It’s hot, but the deep flavor with Japanese Sansho pepper won’t disappoint you.

if you like chinese mapo tofu and you are near kamakura station then you should go to resto. the tiny resto just 10 minutes fro station. its in not crowded area but you can see people queueing to eat here. the mapo tofu set is enought but you can also order additional Ru lou fan steam, wonton or noodle. the mapo tofu a bit salty but if you eat with hot rice then you can taste the balance and deliciousness of the tofu sauce. normally you need yo queue 15-30 minutes but ots worth to wait.

The owner of the shop is very cute, I came alone and I am a foreigner, help me recommend food, can choose the amount of food, small, large. I choose spicy salad with stir-fried chilli and tofu. It's very delicious. I usually eat spicy food and eat spicy food. Next time, if I come to Kamakura, I will definitely come to this restaurant again.
